Dolphins are incredible. They are socially skilled (more so than humans I believe), intelligent, agile, joyful, and they are such playful creatures. It is said that they share many emotional similarities with humans. We love dolphins because they are one of the most intelligent animals on earth. They communicate using clicks, whistles, squeaks, and many other soothing sounds. They use echolocation to navigate underwater and find prey. They are very social and live in groups called pods. Pods travel together from birth until death (which we find absolutely amazing). Dolphins are known to be friendly towards humans and often swim right up to boats, but we should still exercise caution as they can be unpredictable.

Lately, I've been thinking about what Clint (my husband, partner, and best friend) and I have accomplished on our entrepreneurial journey of becoming the proud owners of Timeless Lodge – Bed and Breakfast, located in Umkomaas, Durban. The fact that our journey has been tough and we've made some mistakes along the way is something I truly appreciate and admire about our success. We have also learned a lot. As a child, I grew up wanting to be an air hostess, instead, I find myself working in hospitality which must be one of the hardest industries to work in now. We love it.

Hello and welcome to Timeless Lodge, our “keep it local” blog and home to the best hospitality and accommodation in Durban! A quick introduction so you get to know a little bit about me and what this blog is about. So, I’m Steff, and my husband Clint and I are the proud owners of Timeless Lodge, our incredibly special getaway located in Umkomaas, along the South Coast of Durban. I've been lucky enough to call Timeless Lodge my home for the past two years, and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Stepping onto the beach, right on our doorstep is a dream come true. It's a feeling that I can't put into words. It's truly magical!

The fresh Indian Ocean air is embracing, and the soft sunlight feels like a caress. Over the last year, I’ve become even closer to the people here, and I have met some of the most wonderful people. I have also learned so much about myself and my talents, since living here.

This blog is all about sharing what life is like running a hotel or bed and breakfast, sharing tips about running a lodge and what it means to us, and a whole lot more. We're big fans of promoting local business around us, so we'll be sharing some of our favorite things to do whilst holidaying in Durban and Umkomaas in particular.
